All people who want to transgress and go to Amsterdam to do it, all the tourists who wish to visit one of the most famous districts of the city, and many young people visit the red light district of Amsterdam every day, the beating heart of the transgression in the capital Dutch. The neighborhood is a veritable maze of internal streets, narrow in two canal streets and few side alleys. Despite its small size, this district is full of sex clubs, girls in red curtain windows ready to have sex with every client who can pay for their price, cannabis memorabilia, bars, coffee shops, delinquency, but also art, churches, and history.
In Amsterdam we have the famous red light district. Only women work there, however. Coppejans lives and works in Amsterdam.
While originally a gay coffee shop and still very much gay friendly, The Otherside welcomes visitors of all types, provided they are open and welcoming to others. The dark wood and faux stone interior makes for a more upmarket, stylish atmosphere than most Amsterdam coffee shops — this place even comes with chandeliers. Seating is plentiful if a little cramped on busy days, so be prepared to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the people at the next table.
Can anyone tell me if there are any establishments in the red light district that cater to gay men, perhaps escort services for gay men, strip shows, etc.? There are some bars not in the red light district that are just for men who want to find male escorts. In Warmoesstraat there are a number of Gay establishments. One name that jumps to mind is the Cockring.
Never been so I can't say anything about them. I believe there are some more on the side streets between the Amstel and Rembandtplein. Bongo needs to get out more
Lyle is 21 years old and does sex work part-time. It was really interesting to hear his stories and experiences. I was born in Maastricht, in the South of the Netherlands.
How refreshing right? The Netherlands has always done things differently. There is a lot more to love in Gay Amsterdam than the many many gay bars, saunas, cruise clubs, dance parties and LGBT events — travelers can marvel at the golden age canals, iconic tilting gabled merchant houses, intriguing museums, vintage shopcreative design studios and the infamous Amsterdam coffeeshops.
Bear in mind, too, that Pride Amsterdam is held every year over the first weekend in August, with hundreds of thousands of people in attendance. Save to Wishlist. Stop by on a Tuesday night for Drag Queen Bingo. More Info.
